Yogini Dasha

Yogini Dasha and its Calculation:

What is Yogini Dasha?

The dashas propounded by various ancient masters were excellent for the three yugas – Satyayuga, Tretayuga and Dwaparayuga – but for Kaliyuga, dasha calculatation based on Yogini dasha is great for giving all types of results.Out of the three dashas applicable at the time of birth, Vimshottari dasha should be applied for the births at night during Shukla Paksha and Ashtottari dasha for births during day in Krishna Paksha. In all other cases Yogini dasha gives results.

It is generally observed that Yogini dasha, like Vimshottari dasha, gives results even if applied unconditionally.

There are eight types of Yoginis: Mangala, Pingala, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha and Sankata. The lord and time span of these dashas are given below.

Yogini Lord Period

Mangala -Moon- 1 year

Pingala -Sun -2 years

Dhanya -Jupiter-3 years

Bhramari -Mars-4 years

Bhadrika-Mercury -5 years

Ulka- Saturn-6 years

Siddha -Venus- 7 years

Sankata -Rahu -8 years

Total Period : 36 years

Calculation Method of Yogini Dasha:

Yogini dasha is a nakshatra dasha based on the nakshatra of the Moon at the time of birth. Note down the nakshatra number of the Moon, taking Ashwini as nakshatra number 1. Add 3 to it. Divide by 8. The remainder represents the Yogini dasha operative at the time of birth. It should be restricted to whole numbers and remainder be noted down.

Dasha at Birth = (Moon’s nakshatra + 3) / 8

If the remainer is 1 the dasha operative at the time of birth is Mangala, if 2, Pingla, and so on.

Calculation of Balance Dasha with an Example:

The longitude of Moon at the time of birth is 10S 24 degree 20 minutes or 24 degrees Aquarius.

Therefore to calculate the yogini dasha at the time of birth,we have to find the Janma Nakshatra of the native first. As the longitude of moon is falling in 10S 24degree 20 minutes, the birth nakshatra of the native is Purvabhadra-2.

As purvabhadra is the 25th nakshatra starting from Ashwini, add 3 to 25 and divide it by 8.

Or 25+3/8= 3 as quotient and 4 as remainder. If we check the 4th dasha in sequence, then the birth dasha becomes Bhramari at the time of birth with 4 years time span.

1.Therefore to calculate the balance yogini dasha at the time of birth,we take degrees remaining to be traversed by the Moon in its nakshatra. Then take the remaining degrees till which the nakshatra ends.

The nakshatra ending degree of purvabhadra is 3degree 20 minutes pisces or 333degrees 20minutes pisces.

2.We have to subtract the degrees of moon from the ending degrees of its nakshatra to get the remaining balance degree of the nakshatra.

Or 333degree 20 minutes-324 degrees 20 minutes=9 degrees.

We convert 9 degrees into minutes by 9*60 minutes=540 minutes.

3.The dasha balance is therefore

(Total period of Dasha operating at birth*Remaining degree balance)/800 minutes

=(48 months *540)/800

=32.4 months approx or 2 years 8months approx is the balance yogini dasha at birth.

The native is currently 27 years old so running through the yogini dasha-

2years 8months+Bhadrika(5years)+Ulka(6years)+Siddha(7years)=Sankata Dasha which has started at 20 years 8months till 28 years 8 months..
