Determination of personality through Vedic Astrology

Determination of one's personality using Vedic astrology?

Sattvam Rajastama iti gunah prakrtisambhavah.
Nibadhnanti mahabaho
Dehe Dehinamavyayam.
                          -Gita Chapter 14(SlokeNo 3)

Meaning-
Lord Krishna said to Arjuna:
The three modes of material nature, sattva, rajas and tamas, condition the living entity, when he comes in contact with the nature..

As a result, there are three gunas in nature.Guna means quality. These qualities are also given to Planet and houses. How the energy of Planet will express also depends on this Guna or quality. For example we can produce electricity from water or from thermal power or from Solar energy. All these are different form of energy, the expression of energy is different. We need different infrastructure for them. No one is superior or inferior but still they are different from one another. They are all same energy but with different expression.

Satta means the qualities which gives Love, generosity, Higher wisdom, Knowledge, intelligence, love, forgiveness etc. So Sattvik are the divine qualities and helps us in going towards god.

Rajasick:Quality is like Selfish desire, Passion, violence, impulsiveness. It creates aggression, competition and binds in this materialistic world.

Tamasik:This is the qualities which obstruct us from understanding the happiness and Higher wisdom. These are inertia, darkness, stability, ignorance, attachment etc.

Now see which planets are in which group:

Satvik- Sun, Moon and Jupiter
Rajasik- Mercury, Venus
Tamosik- Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu

In the Rashi chakra The 1,4,5, 9 is of Satwik Quality, The 2, 7, 10, 11 of Rajasic and 3, 6, 8, 12 is of Tamasic Nature.

These zodiac signs also have their associated Gunas but one should remember that we cannot compare the Gunas. We need to balance the three Gunas. This can be attained by harmonizing our mind, body, and soul.

Rajas gunas are dominant in the natives of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn zodiac signs. Rajasik Gunas are represented by the symbol of a volcanic eruption.

The zodiacs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius have dominant Tamsik Guna and it is symbolized by a tall mountain.

Satvik Guna is possessed by the zodiacs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. A newborn baby is the symbol of Satvik guna.

For finding the type of Guna which is more dominant in you, have to note the following points in your birth chart :

⇒Firstly check your ascendant or lagna which determines your personality. If more sattvik planets are placed there then you will have a sattvik nature,if tamasik and rajasik then nature in accordance.

⇒Check the placement of your lagna lord through its conjunctions, aspects and dispostor.

⇒Next check your moonsign and its placement accordingly in the same manner.

⇒As the 5th house represents our mind, check its placement also by applying rule 1.
⇒ Also check the various houses of your birth chart and their placements for eg 1,4,5,9 for sattvik,2,7,10,12 for rajasik and 3,6,8,12 for tamasik to determine your inner qualities.

⇒ Last but not the least check the placement of various planets of different modes in various rashis according to its characteristics i.e sattvik, rajasik and tamasik.
