According to an ancient, thousands of years old myth, Lord Ganesha is one of two sons of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesha’s brother’s name is Lord Kartikeya, the God of War. Lord Shiva is one of the three most supreme deities in Hinduism, called Trimurti, meaning Trinity. Goddess Parvati is known as the Goddess of devotion, fertility, love, strength etc. Lord Ganesha is also popularly known as the elephant God globally. Lord Ganesha is known as the Remover of All Obstacles.He symbolizes success, prosperity, wealth, intelligence, wisdom, education, knowledge, art, literature etc.

Sri Ganesha’s Significance▶

Ganesha’s head symbolizes the Atma or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents OM, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha’s left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The sweet he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition.The snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

✅There are hundreds of names associated with Lord Ganesha, such as Ganpati, Vignaraja, Ekadanta, Vinayaka, Gajanand, Kapil, Shubam, Tarun etc.
✅Lord Ganesha is closely linked to the astrological aspect of Ketu. Rahu and Ketu are not physical-material planets but given the status-importance-significance of a planet in Astrology. Rahu and Ketu are the two of the nine most important planets called NavGraha.
✅Fourth day of bright fortnight of the month of Bhadrapad is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi, birthday of Lord Ganesha.
