The second Nakshatra in the zodiac belt, Bharani Nakshatra manifests the qualities of Venus and normally is attributed with the feminine characteristics like the creation and nurturing. Being associated with Venus, the Nakshatra also holds the quality of adapting and taking extreme measures whenever necessary. Bharani Nakshatra is the second birth star in Vedic Astrology. Situated in the 13-20′ – 26-40′ range in the Aries sign, Bharani Nakshatra is the signifier of Lord Yama. 

Sanskrit Name: भरणी (Bharani) comes from the Sanskrit word भार (load or burden). One meaning of Bharani is “one who bears,” indicating a strong work ethic, self-sacrifice, and a patient, tolerant nature.

Planetary Ruler: Venus. The Ancient Romans worshipped Venus as the goddess of desire, sex, and sensuality. Venus is associated with material pleasures and prosperity, an enjoying spirit, and the arts.

Nakshatra Group: Human. Nakshatras are divided into three classes — monsters, humans, and gods. Bharani is a human nakshatra. People in this group are generally hardworking and motivated to achieve material success. Although they are generally kind, they can also be vindictive and self-serving.

Zodiac Sign: Aries. Arians are loyal, intelligent, confident, and competitive. They make natural leaders. Bharani natives will possess all these Arian qualities and more.

Deity: Yamaraja. The lord of death and the underworld, Yamaraja determines what happens to souls after they die. He is also known as the lord of dharma, or a person’s duties according to the laws of the universe. Yamaraja is praised for his honesty and virtue.

After Lord Brahma granted boons to Ravana, Ravana began to harass humans and kings. Sage Narada suggested Ravana to invade Devas rather than human Kings to show his prowess and strength. Narada suggested to invade Yama Loka and fight with Lord Yama, God of death so that Ravana could be killed by Kala Danda. Yama took the form of cow to escape from situation. Yama given boon to crow to take pritru pindas.

The first Pada of Bharani Nakshatra

An individual born in the first quarter or pada of Bharani Nakshatra lies in the leo Navamsa, the ruler of which is surya or the sun God. A native born in this pada can have selfish tendencies and may, knowingly or unknowingly, hurt others around them. However, people under this quarter are inclined artistically and have great potential in various fields related to creativity and art.

The second Pada of Bharani

A Bharani Nakshatra native who falls in the second quarter or Pada is called virgo Navamsam. Mercury is the ruler of this Pada. The person under this quarter is grounded and is a diligent and hardworking individual. He/She can be relentless in their work and not care about any hardships or adversaries surrounding them.

However, a virgo Navamsam native can be deeply concerned about the wellbeing of others so much, so that they go out of their way to help those in need without considering their own wellbeing.

The third Pada of Bharani Nakshatra

If a native of Bharani constellation is born in the third quarter or pada, then they fall in the libra Navamsam.
