About this Nakshatra:

The Nakshatras in Vedic astrology are lunar constellations and directly manifest its expressions. The Moon changes signs (houses) about every 2.3 days. It takes 28 days to move through the 12 signs of the zodiac, translating into two weeks of a waxing (bright half) Moon and two weeks of a waning (dark half) Moon. The Moon is related to our intuition, intelligence and our natural emotions. The 28 Vedic Nakshatras deal with these ever-changing feelings and emotions based on the Moon’s position.

This is not a regular star like other 27 stars of horoscope. You can all it as invisible star. The Moon has 27 wives; they are the daughters of Daksha Prajapathi and wife Panchajani (Virani). These 27 sisters had one brother and that brother is Abhijit Nakshatra. Abhijit Nakshatra begins from the last quarter of Uttarashada and ends at the first 1/15th segment of Shravana. Abhijit is the Sanskrit name for Vega, the brightest star in the northern constellation of Lyra.
The only time Abhijit is used is for Muhurta. Abhijit (Lorded by Mahavishnu) indicates the direction in which the Sun (i.e. solar system) is processing in the universe and in Krishna marga Abhijit Nakshatra faces west. . Hence, it represents the eye. (Chakshyur) of the zodiac. Aratus,
Abhijit means “Victorious” or “the one who cannot be defeated”. In Bhagavad Geeta, Krishna said that He was Shiva among Rudras; He was Arjuna among Pandava and He was Abhijit among Nakshatra Classical Vedic texts mention Abhijit as one of the most auspicious time for doing any auspicious activity excepting travelling to southern direction. Its deity is Lord Brahma. 


Mythology:

The story from Mahabaratha. Pandu is the king of Hastinapur. Kunthi & Madhri are wifes of the King Pandu. Madhri blessed with the help of Ashwini Kumaras blessed with Nakula & Sahadev. What is Abhijit Muhurtha?

Abhijit Muhurat is believed as a very powerful Muhurat in Hindu astrology. In sanskrit, Abhijit means “winner” and Muhurat means “time" so in Vedic / Hindu Muhurat astrology system, Abhijit Muhurat is prescribed as the most auspicious time & has general acceptance of exponents for initiating a wide spectrum of life activities, especially for fruition of worldly activities. It has power to destroy numerous malefic influences in Muhurats. Abhijit Muhurat is so much powerful that some exponents have said that when a suitable Muhurat is not available, it can be selected for fruition of the desires. It is believed that, this Muhurat has special blessings of Lord Vishnu. Also, during this Muhurat Lord shiva killed the demon Tripurasura. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Rama has taken birth in Abhijeet Muhurat.

Each day, Abhijit Muhurat starts approximately 24 minutes before the mid day and ends 24 minutes after the mid day. This time mainly depends on the duration of that day, means time between Sunrise and Sunset.
