Bhavat Bhavam

Principal of Bhavat Bhavam in Vedic Astrology:

What is Bhavat Bhava?

For any house – vedic astrology suggests reading house from house (bhava from bhava; from house to house mapping) for any house related significations. This is a great little technique when making predictions about a particular bhava/house in vedic astrology.

House Count (Bhavat Bhavam)
1st House –  1st House from 1st House  – i.e. 1st House
2nd House – 2nd House from 2nd House – i.e. 3rd House
3rd House – 3rd House from 3rd House – i.e. 5th House
4th House – 4th House from 4th House –  i.e. 7th House
5th House-  5th House from 5th House – i.e.  9th House
6th House –  6th House from 6th House – i.e. 11th House
7th House –  7th House from 7th House – i.e. 1st House
8th House –  8th House from 8th House -i.e. 3rd House
9th House – 9th House from 9th House – i.e. 5th House
10th House – 10th House from 10th House – i.e. 7th House
11th House – 11th House from 11th House – i.e.  9th House
12th House – 12th House from 12th House – i.e. 11th House

How to Use Bhavat Bhavam Principle?

There is a wonderful principle in astrology called ‘Bhavat Bhavam’ which can be applied to a chart to derive / decipher maximum information about an individual and his relatives. Bhava in Sanskrit means a ‘House’ which can be interpreted as residence, residence of celestial planets or astrological house.

“Bhavat Bhavam” literally means from “from house to house”. By applying this logic, we can study the houses in a much deeper way than normal interpretation. This house-to-house principle can be extended to every house and reveals that there is a relationship between such houses.

Suppose while reading 4th House related results – we must essentially see the 4th from 4th i.e. 7th House for final results. Actually 4th house / 4th lord / planets affecting/influencing 4th house will indicate quality/quantity of the significations of 4th house related results. BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY – those indicated results can be executed (fulfilled) only with the bhavat bhavam house.  So for 4th house indicated results, 7th House (strength of 4th house – through it’s lordship / sign / planets influencing 7th house through aspect/placement) will act as an EXECUTOR / Manifesting House.

4th house is mana or mind, 7th house as a bhavat bhavam (natural pada) – is reflection of mind, it shows up in the way we interact with people. 10th house is profession and self esteem, This also shows up in the way we behave with others i.e. 7th. Good job (10th) is sometimes insisted for good marriage (7th) by some.

Bhavat-Bhavam applied to lagnas:

1) For an Aries lagna person, Mars who rules Aries, the 1st bhava will help them find their life path.

2) For a Taurus lagna person, Mercury who rules their 2nd bhava will help them find their life path.

3) For a Gemini lagna person, Sun who rules their 3rd bhava will help them find their life path.

4) For a Cancer lagna person, Venus who rules their 4th bhava will help them find their life path.

5) For a Leo lagna person, Jupiter who rules their 5th bhava will help them find their life path.

6) For a Virgo lagna person, Saturn who rules their 6th bhava will help them find their life path.

7) For a Libra lagna person, Mars who rules their 7th bhava will help them find their life path.

8) For a Scorpio lagna person, Mercury who rules their 8th bhava will help them find their life path.

9) For a Sagittarius lagna person, Sun who rules their 9th bhava will help them find their life path.

10) For a Capricorn lagna person, Venus who rules their 10th bhava will help them find their life path.

11) For an Aquarius lagna person, Jupiter who rules their 11th bhava will help them find their life path.

12) For a Pisces lagna person, Saturn who rules their 12th bhava will help them find their life path.

Take for instance Aries, Mars is the planet that re-enforces their life path. The relationship is nothing but 1-1. Mars also happens to rule the first house of the natural zodiac and Aries is the first sign. But consider Taurus lagna, it is Mercury who re-enforces their life path. Taurus is the second rasi while Mercury rules the natural 3rd house. This works out the same way for all other rasis...

Hope this helps....
